Before you start
A widget is a small panel beside the app icons on your phone's home screen. EchoMom Shortcuts can use buttons to save care with one tap. Use this guide only if you want that extra convenience; the regular buttons inside EchoMom work without a widget. A default is a detail saved in advance, so check it before each use.
Ask for the result, not the settings screen
Tell EchoMom which one-tap actions would help during your actual routine. The agent checks the widget's supported buttons and options before changing it, so you do not need to know the internal shortcut names.

Know which buttons can be renamed
EchoMom Shortcuts is the home-screen widget on iPhone and Android. Its supported widget buttons can have a custom Button label and defaults. The Quick Actions inside Quick log have fixed names. Arrange those inside EchoMom under More > Reorder quick actions; they cannot be renamed.
Tap Settings, the gear icon at the bottom-right. This opens the settings sections; choose the section named in the next instruction.

To inspect the saved setup, tap Settings at the bottom, choose App, then Widget quick-log buttons → Customize buttons. In the Widgets editor, check the child and labels in Live preview.

Use defaults only for repeatable facts
A default is a detail filled in ahead of time, such as a bottle amount or diaper type. Check it against what happened each time. For medicine, confirm the medicine, dose, and time against the clinician's or pharmacist's instructions; a saved default is never dosing advice. Use the app to review or change details when a one-tap button would be misleading.
- Use a short Button label that a half-awake caregiver can understand.
- Prefill only details that are true most of the time.
- Create two versions of the same action when two repeatable defaults are genuinely useful.
Test one low-risk button
After EchoMom saves the widget setup, add or refresh EchoMom Shortcuts on the phone's home screen. Tap one low-risk action, then check Log for the child, event type, time, and defaults before relying on the widget overnight.
What to remember
- The agent configures EchoMom Shortcuts widget buttons, not in-app Quick Actions.
- Ask for a supported action and include a default only when it is usually true.
- Test the widget once because tapping a supported button can record immediately.
Care basics and sources
